ECHO: plan, observe, and tell each child’s story (Beta)
The learning and documentation tool made only for Family Day Care.
Documenting children’s learning matters, and it takes time. ECHO makes it faster, simpler and more meaningful. Capture an observation in the moment, plan the experiences you have in mind, tell each family the story of their child’s day, and watch development build over time, all in one place.
ECHO is designed around the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 and the ACECQA Developmental Milestones you already work with. It is available to all 12See users at no extra cost.

Made only for Family Day Care
ECHO was not adapted from centre-based or generic childcare software. It was built from the ground up for Family Day Care, and it fits the way an educator actually works: a small mixed-age group, in your own home, with families you know well. Simple, practical, and purpose-built.

Plan the experiences you have in mind
Set out the learning activities/experiences and intentional teaching you are planning, link them to the Early Years Learning Framework outcomes you are working towards (by child and by age), and keep a plan you can share or refer back to. When it is time to reflect, your plan is already there to build on.
Capture a moment as it happens
An observation is your professional record of what a child did and learned. Capture it in the moment, add your own reflection and the children’s voices, and note the progress against the ACECQA Developmental Milestones that families, Services and regulators recognise.
Photos save straight into ECHO rather than your phone’s camera roll (device dependent), so images of the children stay where they belong.

Tell each family the day’s story
At the end of the day, your observations become a Daily ECHO: a warm, readable account of what the children did and learned, with photos, ready to share. Made to be shared with families with our unique family group and segmented distribution, not just filed away.
Watch each child’s progress build
Every child has a profile that grows with them. As you add observations, their developmental progress builds over time, anchored to the ACECQA EYLF Developmental Milestones. A clear picture of how each child is tracking, ready when you, a family or your Service need it.

ECHO and your Service
Educators can share their programming, observations and Daily ECHOes with their Service as a PDF or by email, building a strong record of each child’s learning for the National Quality Standard evidence story and for Assessment and Rating.
In Beta, and getting better
ECHO is in Beta and available to all 12See users. It is built for Family Day Care and shaped by the educators who use it, with new functionality added regularly. See the change log for what’s new.
